2016-17 Salem News Girls Hockey All-Stars


Masconomet Senior


Dependable on either side of the blue line while captaining Masconomet to its best state playoff run in 15 years … Came through in clutch offensively, with winning shootout goal to beat Beverly as well as a power play tally in over Austin Prep … Totaled four goals and 10 points in an NEHL all-star campaign … One of the league’s leaders in minutes played by a skater … Ranks in the top three percent of Masco’s senior class.


Masconomet Senior


Staunch defender led her team in blocked shots, averaging a half-dozen blocks per game in the historic run to the Division 1 state semis … NEHL All-Conference defenseman from Boxford received Masconomet’s Coaches Award … Overcame midseason illness to average more than 20 minutes a game down the stretch … Outstanding in quarterfinal playoff win over Austin Prep … Chipped in four goals and six assists on the season.


Masconomet Freshman


Absolute rock between the pipes for the Chieftains was unflappable while making 538 saves this winter … Saved an area-best 93.1 percent of shots she faced and was even better in the playoffs with a .939 percentage and 124 total stops … Made 41 saves plus four shootout stops to topple Beverly, plus another 27 to beat Austin Prep and 37 against eventual state champion Woburn in the semifinals… Posted 1.90 GAA … One of the state’s best rebound controllers … Newburyport student also had 4 1/2 shutouts.


Masconomet Senior


Two-time Northeastern Hockey League All-Conference choice graduates second on Masconomet’s career list with 90 points … Led her team with 19 goals and 13 assists … Her 32 points ranked sixth in the area … Captain helped drive her team to the Division 1 state semifinals for the first time … Scored two hat tricks, including four goals in playoff win over Quincy/North Quincy … Relentless competitor was strong in the corners and shifted from center to wing with equal effectiveness … Had winning goal to beat defending state champ Austin Prep … Newburyport senior is a three-sport standout.
